ONE THREAD RUNS THROUGH IT

Eleven tracks, one thread. It opens skin-first — desire as surveillance, the body watched and wanted, bent into the shape of someone else's hunger. Then the cost comes due: a love that takes more than it gives, and the thing underneath it that takes the rest.

The narrator runs — underground, into the dark corners, the vest peeled off like a dare. Death is already in the room. At the record's center everything stops, and someone is held while they go.

REBIRTH IS NOT SALVATION

What's left has to live with it. Guilt worn directly against the skin. A box that closes back over just as the light gets in. Then the clock, finally, doing its work. It ends in a furnace — the flesh shed, the host killed, something else standing up out of the ash. These songs were already fevered in 1993 — hungry, unsatisfied. Now they play in order.

The rig I performed with from 1989 to 1995. A Macintosh Classic running Master Tracks Pro, a Roland D-20 over a Sequential Circuits Pro One, a Quadraverb sitting on a speaker, a mixer that was probably borrowed.

In 2026 the sequence files from this machine were recovered and pulled forward. What is on the record began as these performances.

The Burial

Dilemma Sect is Darren Vader — one man, a synth electro-industrial rock project out of Denton, Texas. In 1993 it stopped. The songs didn't get a funeral — they got a box.

The why matters less than the what: a record's worth of material, written and then buried with the machines that made it.

Dilemma Sect Returns

Dilemma Sect — the synth electro-industrial rock project of Texas artist Darren Vader — returns December 4, 2026 with "Freak Desire," its first release since the project went silent in 1993.

Written in the early 1990s and shelved when the project stopped, the Dilemma Sect material was finished thirty-three years later: same voice, descendants of the same machines, zero nostalgia. The catalog was produced, mixed and mastered by Vader with London producer/mixer Sie Medway-Smith (Depeche Mode, Björk, Massive Attack, U2; Music Producers Guild "Mix Engineer of the Year" nominee).

When I finally went back to them, I was surprised to find a story threaded through them that had become the actual path of my emotional life.
